We honor our police officers

Today, May 15th, is Police Memorial Day. I would like to ask you to
join me in a prayer for these men and women who have dedicated their
lives to the protection of our communities.

May 15th is only one of two days per year that the law requires that
the U.S. flag be lowered to 1/2 mast in honor of those officers who have
given their lives in the line of duty.

We honor our troops through out the world who fight for our freedom
and mourn their losses. They are keeping this country safe from foreign
peoples who would like to do us harm.

Yet, we hear little of the fight our officers are engaged in. It is
here, on our streets, in our communities. Our officers give their lives
to keep us safe here, at home, on our own streets, in our own
communities. On average, one police officer dies every 50 hours in the
line of duty. Giving thier lives to protect us. This does not include
accidents and suicides. ( Which are on the rise in alarming numbers
amoung police officers.)

These men and women will never have "Veteran Status", nor are there
federal programs to recognize them with the exception of the "Police
Officer's Memorial Wall" in Washington D.C. and a dedicated group
C.O.P.S. (Concerns for police survivors")

Please join me in honoring these men and women who fight to keep us
safe here at home. Please, do not wait until they die , to show them our
support. Please join me in prayer for those who have given their all
and for the ones they left behind.

Thank you!!
